Our Story.

Hello dear Friends & Travelers!

We are Maika & Calvin - co-founders of Hearth & Sol Stays.

For years, we have been devoted educators and advocates of holistic wellness, nurturing young people to strive and become their healthiest, authentic, and most animated selves. We took our passion for creating inclusive spaces of belonging in the classroom to curating guest stays and experiences that leave guests with the lasting impression of feeling invited, welcomed, and most importantly, peace and at-home.

Our journey has taken us from the jungles of Panama to Native American reservations across South Dakota, and finally to the heart of Napa Valley. Each destination taught us what it means to create genuine connection and welcome others with authenticity.

Our collective 20+ years in education have shown us that the most meaningful experiences happen when people feel truly cared for. During our travels, we often asked ourselves: How would we want to feel during our stay? The answer was simple: cozy, valued, and unforgettable.

Our aging parents and in-laws brought us from the rolling prairie hills of Nebraska to the sweet oasis of Napa Valley. We love sharing the peace, tranquility, and adventurous spirit of places we have called home. As soon as we landed one morning in the Napa Valley after a 27-hour drive from Nebraska, in our Toyota Rav 4 with 2 pups and 4 cats, we were greeted with the morning fog rolling through vineyards, the crisp due on the vines, and the hidden wineries tucked into corners of the valley—we knew we had to share this magic with fellow travelers, seeking escape, rest, and upon departure, feeling whole again.

And thus, the beginning of Hearth & Sol Stays. Our singular mission is to bring the heart of home to every stay — wherever that may be.

Maika brings her natural eye for creating welcoming spaces, while Calvin focuses on the personal touches that make each stay memorable. Together, we've poured our hearts into a carefully curated portfolio of properties that feel like home, while offering the tranquility you deserve.
